Call to Artists for Okaloosa Arts & Culture Fest

The Okaloosa Arts Alliance announce a call for artists and crafters for the annual Okaloosa Arts & Culture Fest, which will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the FWB Landing. Email Amy at amybaty1@gmail.com for a vendor application or more information about the 8th annual Arts Fest.


The annual event features dozens of local artisans and craft vendors, food and beverages, live music and art performances. Free family activities; hands on art projects, educational animal presentations and exhibits, face painting and street performances by local artists and students. A silent auction will help raise funds for OAA and Okaloosa County School Poster contest entries will be on display. Tickets Available for Wine Tasting to Benefit the Okaloosa Arts Alliance

Tickets are now available for the Wine Tasting on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at The Twisted Grape located at 1193 B Eglin Parkway in Shalimar.   Join friends and art supporters by attending this annual event that offers wine, food by The Twisted Grape, live entertainment and drawings for chances to win tickets to upcoming events.  The Okaloosa Arts Alliance will also be presenting grants to local non-profits at this event.   Tickets are $25 each or $45 for two and can be reserved online at www.okaloosaarts.org or by contacting Amy at amybaty1@gmail.com.  Seats are limited so advanced reservations are required.   All proceeds will benefit the Okaloosa Arts Alliance.

Fort Walton Beach, FL, October 29, 2015 —   The Okaloosa Arts Alliance (OAA) announces the Board of Directors for 2015-2016. The Executive Board of Directors are: President- Bill Head, Chair of the Volunteer Committee, Vice President- Ken Hair with Children in Crisis, Treasurer- Susan Kneller, Chair of the OAA Grants Committee, and Secretary-Becky Belcher with the Arts & Design Society. The Board of Directors are: Keri Woods with Pyramid Inc, Nellie Bogar with the Youth Village, Demetrius Fuller with Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Ursel Behnken with the German Club, Jeanette Shires with the Mattie Kelly Arts Center of NWFL State College and NWFL Symphony Guild, Chris Manson with the Beachcomber, Jean Starkey with Stage Crafters, Gayle Vann, Chair of the Events Committee, James K Baughman, Sr, Author, Pat Federinko, Artist, and Bill Johnston with the Emerald Coast Pipes & Drums.

The Okaloosa Arts Alliance would like to thank the 105 students from Rocky Bayou Christian School, Fort Walton Beach High School,  Liza Jackson Preparatory School, Wright Elementary School, Plew Elementary School and NFB Académie that  entered the 6th annual Okaloosa Arts Alliance Summer Fun poster contest. Each 1st place prize was a $75 gift card, generously donated by Eglin Federal Credit Union, each 2nd place prize was a $50 gift card, generously donated by the Mary Esther Target and Crestview Wal-mart and each 3rd place prize was a $25 gift card, generously donated by the Destin Target.  The poster artwork will be on display at the Arts & Design Society all this week until May 2 during regular business hours, which are Tues-Fri Noon-4pm and Sat 1-4pm.  For additional information on the poster display, please contact the Arts & Design Society at 850-244-1271.  The winners were announced on Fri, April 24 at the reception hosted by the Arts & Design Society and the winners and honorable mentions are as follows:

Call To All Okaloosa County Students-Poster Contest

Calling all students that live or go to school in Okaloosa County, you are invited to participate in the 6th Annual OAA Okaloosa County School Poster Contest. The OAA wants to know what you consider “Summer Fun”. It can be anything you can create on paper with markers, pencils, paint, pastels, charcoal, or crayons. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for three elementary school students (K-4), for three middle school students (5-7), and for three high school students (8-12) in Okaloosa County. Each 1st place winner will receive a $75 gift card, each 2nd place winner will receive a $50 gift card, and each 3rd place winner will receive a $25 gift card. Additionally, the 1st place winners’ artwork will be posted in the OAA newsletter and on the OAA website. All of the poster contest entries will be on display at the Arts & Design Society from April 21-May 1 with a reception announcing the winners on Fri, April 24th. Any Okaloosa County School student can enter; entries can be submitted by an Okaloosa County School or by an individual student. The poster contest deadline is April 20, 2014. Please drop off all entries at the Arts & Design Society gallery, which is open Tuesday-Friday, noon-4 pm, and Saturday, 1-4 pm, and is located at the Art Center, 17 First Street, SE, Fort Walton Beach.
