Okaloosa Arts Alliance Holding Grant Writing Workshop & Grant Opportunities


The Okaloosa Arts Alliance (OAA) is holding a grant writing workshop on Wed, Nov 16th from
12:30-3:30 at the Destin Library (150 Sibert Ave, Destin, FL 32541) in the Calhoun Room. The workshop will be presented by Susan Kneller, OAA Grants chair who is a retired teacher with over 20 years of experience as a successful grant writer, applicant, grant reviewer and member of multiple grant selection committees.  The workshop will cover researching available grants, writing grant proposals- to include the OAA grant application, developing project budgets, understanding the terminology of grants and common mistakes to avoid.  The cost of the grant writing workshop will be $15 for OAA members and $45 for non-members.  Advanced reservations are required due to limited seating.  All proceeds will benefit the OAA. The OAA grant application and guidelines will be available on the website on November 1st at www.okaloosaarts.org  and will also be available at the grant writing workshop.  Guidelines and tips will be covered at the workshop for the OAA grant application as well as the opportunity to ask questions about the grant application. The OAA will be accepting grant applications through Dec 2, 2016 and the workshop is not required to apply for the OAA grant.  The OAA will be awarding a $1000 grant to a local non-profit and a $1000 to an Okaloosa County school to aid in their art and/or cultural programs for 2017.

Okaloosa Arts & Culture Fest-May 21


Fort Walton Beach, FL, May 2, 2016—   The Okaloosa Arts Alliance invites you, your family and friends to the annual Okaloosa Arts & Culture Fest, which will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the FWB Landing. The FWB Landing is located on 139 Brooks St SE, FWB, FL 32548. This free family fun arts event features dozens of local artisans and craft vendors, food and beverages, free family arts activities, live music and art performances.  Live entertainment will include Emerald Coast Pipes & Drums, Brite Starz, Highsteppers, Pyramid Players and more.   A silent auction will help raise funds for OAA, which will include donations from Newman-Dailey Resorts, Painting with A Twist, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, The Track, Southern Vacation Rentals and more

The annual OAA Okaloosa County School Poster Contest’s deadline has been extended to May 11, 2016.  Any Okaloosa County School K-12 student can enter; entries can be submitted by an Okaloosa County School or by an individual student.  All poster entries will be on display at the Fest and the winners will be announced at the Fest.   Artists, food vendors, vendors and sponsors are still being accepted through May 11, 2016.  Silent auction items also still being accepted.  All details online at https://www.okaloosaarts.org/oaa-fest.html

OAA Wine Tasting a Success & Grants Awarded

Fort Walton Beach, FL, January 27, 2016—   The Wine Tasting hosted by The Twisted Grape on Sunday January 24, 2016 was a success.  The OAA thanks the Twisted Grape for hosting the event and to Sinfonia, Mattie Kelly Arts Center, Emerald Coast Theatre Company and the OAA Board for donating items to the drawings. Everyone enjoyed live entertainment by the Emerald Coast Chorus, Pyramid Players and the Fort Walton Beach Highschool Drama Club.   The Okaloosa Arts Alliance also awarded two $1000 grants on Sunday to Emerald Coast Theatre Company and to
Pyramid Inc.  Both organizations will be using the grant money toward their theater productions this year.
